Communauté d'agglomération de GrandAngoulême

At the heart of the Charente "département" (or county), Communauté d'agglomération du GrandAngoulême consists of 16 towns or villages that have chosen to pool together their competences and territories to build a dynamic district, striving to preserve and improve the environment they live in.

Grand Angoulême has developed considerably since its transformation, in December 1999, from the District du Grand Angoulême into the Communauté d'Agglomération du Grand Angoulême. Since then, with this increased responsibility, , GrandAngoulême has become a key stakeholder in the lives of a population of 106,146 (i.e. 1/3 of the département's population). Le réseau de transport de la communauté d'Agglomération du GrandAngoulême

The transport network for the district is delegated to the STGA and covers the 16 towns and villages of GrandAngoulême.

The service includes some hundred or so buses and minibuses as well as a dozen or so taxis. This network is organised around separate but complementary services:

  • 9 scheduled lines that cross the district diametrically and represent a total 179.2 kilometres of lines (including shared sections)
  • 10 secondary lines linked to the main sections, leading to least densely populated areas, some of which work on an "on demand" basis (Taxibus) 
  • 4 lines (A, B, C and D) that operate on Sundays and bank holidays except May 1 
  • 2 Studibus lines leading to the main student areas, from the station on Sunday nights during term times
  • 26 lines operating to secondary schools in GrandAngoulême. They are also available to non-student passengers.
