Local authorities in Poitou-Charentes run transport services for disabled people, in accordance with Act n°2005-102 of 11 February 2005, which requires public transport to offer complete access to disabled and reduced mobility people by 11 February 2015.

Conditions vary depending on the transport network and you can contact the following departments for more information.

The regional network

Accès Plus

This free service offers easier transport to persons with reduced mobility by improving the accessibility of stations and trains. For that, it offers appropriate reception and support from the departure train station's entrance to the arrival station's exit.

There is also an Emergency Accessibility Line available in the case of unforeseen difficulties or incidents during your journey. Accessibility of TER Poitou-Charentes coaches.

Most coach services organised by the Poitou-Charentes Region offer wheelchair spaces. Bookings on 0810 00 66 92 (price of a local call from a land line), the previous day before 5 p.m. for departures Tuesday to Saturday, before Friday 5 p.m. for departures on Sunday or Monday.

In several intercommunal structures and in the territory of GrandAngoulême, the Association to Support Disabled, Isolated and Elderly Persons, AAHPIA offers a specific transport on demand service for persons with reduced mobility, the "Handibus" service. This service transports passengers to the place of their choice, regardless of the reason for the journey. Furthermore, they are transported in a specially fitted vehicle and the driver helps passengers on and off the vehicle.

Communauté d'Agglomération de La Rochelle

Temporary or permanent reduced mobility, hearing or visual deficiencies: regardless of your disability Yélo helps you travel throughout the district of La Rochelle.  In 2012,  68% of bus stops and 91% of buses, as well as sea ferries and buses were accessible to reduced mobility persons. The CdA has also set up Isigo, the Yélo transport on demand service for persons with reduced mobility. Operating 24/7 with specially adapted vehicles, it is organised around a "Day" service and a "Night" service with separate pricing and conditions.

Communauté d'Agglomération de Saintes

Transport on demand service Allo'Buss +" is available to persons with reduced mobility in the towns and villages of Saintes, Thénac, Chermignac, les Gonds, Fontcouverte, Saint Georges des Coteaux and Bussac sur Charente. For other locations in the CdA, the service is provided by departmental coaches. Access to the service requires the user to have a disability card or priority card for disabled persons.

HANDIBUS is a transport on demand service run specifically for persons with reduced mobility. It is a public transport service, like the scheduled Vitalis network. It operates on a zone servicing basis.
